I have some of these utilities and will check them out. If I can get Output only, then routing into DP should be easy. I don't care about QT since it's easy to strip the audio and replace. I haven't been able to make this work in QuickTime or DP. The issue is obtaining Computer Output only without including any input. I also use SoundSource but haven't needed it for the process in question. Hardly seems worth it, to me, especially if I lose the currently installed iSkysoft video editor. The new "upgrade" (for $1.99 version which apparently requires the purchase of a 24 month "insurance policy") doesn't look as full featured and carry a higher initial price ($60 on sale) for a lifetime license. Often I just paste the URL and watch it download. And to tell a family secret, iSkysoft Deluxe Video Editor (now called Videoconverter and I'm not happy about that) is also very good at extracting audio or capturing audio and video. But, if you set it up to manually adjust the output mapping, it seems to work flawlessly. I've found that in the standard pass-through mode it has some of the same issues as Soundflower. That's why I've switched to Rogue Amoeba's Loopback. Phil O wrote:Mike, off and on I've had these sorts (and other) problems with Soundflower. I can send things back and forth between different apps, and get a digital zero sum with the original and the inverted signal sent by SF. I have the 64 channel version in my audio setup all the time. I never understood the source of the other audio problems reported with SF. The whole thing is not entirely obvious so I keep this around in case I need to go back to it. There was an article in MacWorld that described how to do this and be able to monitor it at the same time, but I never find this necessary if I'm going to be editing anyway. QT 7 does screen recordings without this bug and can use SF, but the output format of the video is something that other modern video apps don't always like. Another workaround is to do a screen recording of the screen recording. Sometimes you can get around that by 1) duplicating the video and 2) doing some sort of Trim edit and saving the edited version. There is a bug in QT Player where saving the captured video fails. Save the recording, change the output back to your usual monitor, and work with that. You won't hear the sound while recording, though you'll see any video. Click the record button and follow the on screen instructions. Open QuickTime Player, select screen recording, and in the little drop down menu choose Soundflower. Perhaps you only need the audio.ĭon't set both input and output to Soundflower. I do this all the time and never have a problem with like the one you describe, although I usually do a screen recording. With simultaneous events not possible in nature, I can’t see how to avoid this. I’ve since downloaded BlackHole but don’t know if it would give the same result. ![]() Or can I? What am I missing? Does anyone know how to split the signal so that the Soundflower Input and Output are not both recorded? I tried recording the audio simultaneously into DP but it was no better since I can’t split the In/Out from the incoming audio. Stripping, processing and re-adding the audio is easy in FCPx and Premiere Elements. ![]() I can export this audio and Normalize in DP giving me about 95% the fidelity of the original audio. It jumps to 100% the second you hit the button but I have a second to knock it down. My workaround is to reduce the output In System Preferences/Sound to 40% after hitting Record. The problem is that both are present in the audio and at the default settings, there’s horrid comb filtering in the recorded sound. With the Mac OS, you have to select it as both input and output. Screen Capture is better for capturing full screen, BTW. I’d not done screen recording in years but I know how to do it with Quicktime or Screen Capture from Roxio (included with Toast). ![]() Producer can’t get me the file in the time allotted, can I work from it online? Gabelick’s tenure with Malört has, at long last, come to a close. “I’m a white-wine person,” she says, uncorking a bottle one recent afternoon and setting down a pair of goblets. There was always a bottle in the office, she says, but she steadfastly refused to try so much as a drop. The best and worst sales pitch for Malört might be this: When Pat Gabelick, 75, first got into the Malört business 52 years ago, she took one sniff of the stuff and decided it was not for her, a position she wouldn’t renege on for decades all the same, she kept on selling it. Malört is many things: a Midwestern tradition, a temperance loophole, and a passion project that became a life’s work that could become, maybe, a national phenomenon.Īs far as life’s works go, however, Malört is a funny one, given that the longtime president of Carl Jeppson Co.-which makes one product (Malört) and for much of its recent history had one employee (the president)-doesn’t like it. It tastes like earwax or a hornet’s nest or paint thinner or anger in the words of the back label on the bottle, it is “bitter,” “unusual,” “full-bodied,” and “savored by two-fisted drinkers.” Its following in Chicago has all a cult’s hallmarks: an initiation ritual (see: the Malört face, frequently snarled by visitors who’ve trusted a Chicagoan to order for them), a secret handshake (the so-called Chicago handshake: a shot of Malört and an Old Style), and more than a few tattoos inked across diehards’ flesh. Describing its flavor profile is a favorite parlor game among those who’ve sampled it. It’s compared to absinthe, which shares its wormwood core, and to aquavit, which shares its Scandinavian lineage, but Malört isn’t like anything. This is pretty much the point.įor 85 years, Jeppson’s Malört has been a Chicago institution, one that has remained basically unchanged since Prohibition. A Google search for it will direct you to the term “Malört face,” a query that will lead to a close-up montage of poor souls reacting to their first taste of the amber liquor: eyes closed, noses scrunched, jaws clenched, veins swelling out of foreheads, perhaps a tear trickling down a cheek in horror or disgust. The first thing you should know about Malört is that, well, it’s bad. ![]() In this way, it constantly pushes you into coming up with new contraptions. ![]() One level could require you to cut down a farmer's crops, while another might involve stealing a crystal from a bunch of druids. While the title implies a focus on the destruction of fortifications, the objectives you'll face in the campaign are far more varied than that. Besiege also lets you tinker with the parameters of these objects at just the right level of depth, adjusting the 'speed' of wheels, the power of cannons, and assigning actions to individual key-bindings.īesiege is at its best when it's encouraging creativity, presenting you with a problem that can be solved in multiple ways. Alongside all the weapons you can festoon your machine with, there are ropes and winches for constructing cranes, propellers and wings for building flying machines, even tools for automation and rudimentary programming. The toolkit boasts a broad range of objects. ![]() Similarly, if you build a machine that's heavily front-loaded with weapons, it's important to add ballast to the back end, otherwise it'll tip over the moment you switch from drive to reverse. When my trebuchet wobbles into position like a Saturday-night drunk, I quickly soon realise it's a good idea to shore-up constructions with metal braces. Wood may seem like a sturdy construction material in theory, but when building a three-storey high catapult, dead trees get surprisingly bendy. The various objects and materials you work with mirror real-life physics. It provides some guidance on how to build a basic buggy, but that's pretty much it, while its guide on how to create a steerable vehicle is actually the worst way of doing it.įortunately, this doesn't matter too much, as the best and funniest way of learning in Besiege is through failure. This is as well, because Besiege's tutorial is lacking. Your building area is outlined in front of the objective, inside which is a single metal cube that will form the crux of your contraption.īesiege's toolkit is less intimidating than that of Kerbal Space Program, featuring an intuitive, LEGO-like construction system that lets you hammer out the basic frame of your siege weapon in seconds. Each stage presents you with a simple objective, starting with destroying a house. These levels are beautifully presented dioramas of death, with a handful of environmental details delicately painted onto a plain, blueish background. This realm is split into four separate Kingdoms, each of which comprises around a dozen individual levels. Only instead of building dungeons, you're building siege weapons. ![]() Besiege points you toward a perfectly nice fantasy realm and orders you to completely ruin it. The premise is vaguely reminiscent of Dungeon Keeper. This lets you turn and move simultaneously, with greater control than hinge steering, but has the downside of a larger turning circle. This gives precise motor control, but the machine can only turn while stationary.Ī wheel weighted by ballast sits on top of the machine, generating torque when it spins. The inner wheels provide drive, while the outer wheels have opposite turning circles, which will cause the vehicle to turn in circles. This is the most flexible steering model, but is hard to control and easily broken. Here, the front wheels are controlled by adjustable hinges. Learning how to create steerable vehicles is a key skill in Besiege. ![]() What time should my 12 month old wake up from their afternoon nap? # Making this nap transition when your baby is truly ready for it will make the process much smoother. Transitioning to one nap too early can lead to other sleep issues, like short naps, early morning wakings, or night wakings. Before deciding to make any changes to your baby’s routine, we want to make sure your baby is consistently showing signs that it’s time to drop a nap for at least one week, ideally two. Most 12 month olds are not yet able to handle these longer wake windows without being overtired at naptime and bedtime. This is necessary in order to get that one restorative nap and have consolidated night sleep. When your baby is truly ready to make the 2 to 1 nap transition, you’ll see that they’re able to handle much longer wake windows. Instead, sudden changes in sleep are typically caused by illness, teething, new skills, or the 12 month sleep regression. In most of these cases, dropping a nap is not the solution. I often see babies this age suddenly fight naps or struggle to fall asleep, causing parents to wonder if it’s time to transition to one nap. This allows for restorative sleep during the day, keeps bedtime between the sweet spot of 7:00-8:00 pm, and provides enough active awake time to be tired for naps and night sleep. ![]() On a two nap schedule, the goal is to have each nap last at least one hour, but no longer than two hours. Yatagarasu‘s main innovation lies in its parry system, which is also vaguely inspired by 3rd Strike: While regular blocking just requires holding backwards like in any other 2D fighting game, the opponent’s attacks can also be met with “Button Locking” – pressing the matching parry button against either high or low moves just in time not only blocks the attack, but turns the character blue for a moment and warrants a brief time window of advantage over the stunned attacker. But here it doesn’t limit the options during the fight, but merely makes the chosen attack more powerful. Taken from Street Fighter III is the prompt to choose the preferred super move after selecting a character. Special moves have enhanced versions activated by pressing both buttons from the same attack type instead of one, similar to Street Fighter IV. All the typical movement options like high jumps, dashes, quick and delayed getups after a fall are also in place. ![]() Combining the buttons allows for throws, an overhead hopping attack and an unblockable but slow strike, which makes the character turn darker for a moment. The basic controls don’t differ much from the classic 2D fighters: Like in The King of Fighters, four buttons are used for quick and strong punches and kicks. Game designer Ume-zono is mostly known as a high level tournament player of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, but he also has some King of Fighters credits under his belt, as he has worked as a “planner” on the 2002 iteration. This is certainly rooted in part in the game’s pedigree: The graphics are created by Kotani:Tomoyuki, who used to be a sprite artist from KoF ’99 to KoF 2001 under his pseudonym Styleos (more recently, he has done illustrations for a number of Cave shoot-em-ups). For one, it is one of the few doujin fighters that abstain from shameless pandering to the moe audience and go for a more “mature” anime style design, not unlike SNK’s The King of Fighters series. That alone might be enough to put some people off, but Yatagarasu is different. ![]() But waiting a day by sleeping or using the wait function doesn’t work. I'll be honest with you all, my only complaint about The Hopper is that I can't go down to my friendly neighborhood Honda dealer and buy one off the floor right now. I don’t know how many hours went into the build, but it is safe to say between everyone involved, with everything around the build, including filming social media short videos etc we would have hundreds and hundreds of hours in it." It did mean a bunch of 16 hour days, but the end result speaks for itself. We had many delays with the bike, like motorcycle accidents, deadlines shifting, running a workshop, overseas holidays and as the collaboration was always about building an amazing bike on a small budget, the labor or build hours would just be put in whenever possible. We had members help on the build, and that was always going to be the case, but like everyone, life gets in the way, so building a custom bike takes a back seat. The biggest challenge on this build was time. It features a built-in draft beer dispensing system, a rad sparkly vinyl seat made to look like the top of a glass of beer, and killer old-school chopper aesthetics. Basically a company calling card, The Hopper was designed to travel around to bars, bike shows, festivals, and other places where thirsty people gather to spread the gospel of hops. Speaking of weird customs, the guys at Rising Sun Workshop recently teamed up with best mates Young Henrys Brewing to build a rolling beer bar called The Hopper out of a CT110 and, whew, it may be the most perfect bike ever built. They can be had for pennies at government surplus auctions in Oz, and they are, in a word, perfect for small bike customization projects. They're damn near bulletproof and, after a thirty-some year run in worldwide production, are common as dirt in places not called America. For those of you who aren't familiar, the CT110 is a pocket-sized, small-displacement dual sport that rocks a 105cc air-cooled single mated to a semi-auto four-speed trans with a centrifugal clutch. ⠀ Sydney to London on a Wing and a PrayerĪbout a million years ago, the Australian Post bought tons of tiny, mighty, Honda CT110s, modified them for postal duties, and the legendary Postie Bike was born. |
